Purim Party
Saturday evening, February 3, 9:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.

Last year we had almost 400 people (no exaggeration!) at our wild Klezmer dance party celebrating Purim.  This year we are featuring a live Klezmer band led by the legendary Klezmer musician Andy Statman (see photo at right) as well as specially mixed rock-n-roll (and maybe some swing) dance music. 
Co-sponsored with Congregation B'nai Jeshurun and the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York. Admission is $20 ($15 AC/BJ/MOMC members, $5 in costume). Free refreshments (including hamentashen and beer). Volunteers are needed (in return for free admission). 7:30 - 10:00pm at Ansche Chesed. Co-sponsored with Congregation B'nai Jeshurun and the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York. No experience necessary. Expert instruction (Reba Perez) starting at 7:30pm followed by open dancing (see below for details about individual programs). Free refreshments! Cost is $20 ($15 AC/BJ/MOMC members) for a single session (see below for a great deal on a season pass). No reservations necessary. Volunteers are needed (in return for free admission). Swing Dance Program Details

There will be a basic mini-lesson at 7:30pm, a more advanced mini-lesson at 8:30pm and a professional dance show at 9:30pm.

November 19: SWING CELEBRATION! Get out your zoot suit, silk stockings or bobby socks ­ whichever way you play it, ain't no other way to say it 'cept SWING, SWING, SWING! Basic lesson will have you dancing the night away!

December 3: SIZZLING SALSA FIESTA! Ariba! Latin rhythms rule! Spicy salsa, cheeky chacha, magic merengue. Lesson includes both salsa and merengue.

December 17: BLACK & WHITE BALL: Just for fun, let's go back to the fantasy and elegance of the Golden Years at Hollywood studios and wear outrageous Black & White outfits! We'll dance ballroom, swing and Latin; lesson includes foxtrot and swing. An evening to remember!

January 7: NOCHE DE TANGO! Dance "the dance of passion!" The basic lesson will be a full hour, 7:30-8:30pm, and promises to make tango easy and fun. TANGO: it's like no other dance! Warning: may be the beginning of a life-long obsession!

CANCELLED DUE TO SUPER BOWL: January 28: SUNDAY NIGHT FEVER! Disco Party! Hustle is the disco partner dance born in the 70's: our mini-lessons will show you how! Hustle or just cut loose and freestyle the night away! You should be dancing ­ yeah!

March 11: SWING SOCK HOP! It's back to the fifties for a sensational night of swing! No explanation needed ­ just put on your dancing shoes and boogie!

March 18: SPRING SALSA SENSATION: Help welcome spring breezes with a night of tropical fever! Mini-lessons will focus on salsa and cha cha!

April 1: SPRING GALA BALL: The Sunday Dance Series culminates in our grand gala ball: mixed dances! Dress: festive. Lesson features swing and waltz!

Open House for New and Prospective members of the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club
Monday, April 30 at 7:30pm
at Ansche Chesed (251 West 100 Street). A brief presentation will be given about Mosaic and its events. Leaders will be there to answer your questions. What do I bring on a hike? How difficult are our hikes? What types of people show up? Ages? Gender. Whether your new to Mosaic or were always curious what you were missing each year please come down for a relaxing and entertaining hour. Refreshments will be served. Hiking Sunday, May 6 - Ringwood State Park, 5.5 miles on terrain of easy to moderate difficulty (some moderate hills). Bring hiking boots, lunch, water, daypack, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, money, etc. Co-sponsored with the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York. Cost is $10 ($5 AC/MOMC members). CANCELLED: Memorial Day Weekend Thursday, May 24 - Sunday, May 27 - at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. A fun filled weekend which attracts many people from the Ansche Chesed Outings Group and Young Professional's groups.  Highly recommended! The weekend sold out last year! Don't miss out this year. The explanation for why this year's weekend is starting on a Thursday and ending on a Sunday instead of the usual Friday to Monday format is because the holiday of Shavuot starts on Sunday evening. Minyan Rimonim Shavuot Retreat  Sunday, May 27 - Tuesday, May 29 - at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. Join Minyan Rimonim for a relaxing Shavuot Retreat at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires.  Camp Ramah is located 75 miles due north of the Ansche Chesed. The retreat will tentatively feature a beach party, tikkun leil Shavuot (Sunday night), softball, tennis, nature walks, basketball, swimming, singing, board games, power walking, beach volleyball, massage therapy workshops, star gazing, running, Israeli dancing, New Games, Minyan Rimonim style services, classes, great meals and snacks, beautiful scenery and great people. Limited baby-sitting may be available. Accommodations will include the best that Camp Ramah has to offer (singles and doubles guaranteed to those registering by May 11). Space is limited to about 100 people so please register early. Prices start as low as $150 for registrations postmarked by May 11. Whitewater Rafting Sunday, June 24 - On the Lehigh River (Class II & III whitewater - it's a dam release day!), Limited to the first 42 paid reservations. Over 60 people wanted to come last year. No experience necessary. "Our most fun trip of the year." Co-sponsored with the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York. $49. Paid reservations due by Friday, June 1. Canoeing Sunday, July 15 - On the Delaware River (Class I & II whitewater), $30. No experience necessary. Paid reservations required by Friday, June 29. Hiking Sunday, August 19 - Dunderberg (and Bald) Mountain and The Timp - 9 miles (about 5.5 hours), moderate - strenuous difficulty, hilly (this is not an easy hike, hiking boots required). Bring hiking boots, lunch, water, daypack, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, money, etc. Co-sponsored with the Associates Group of the The JCC in Manhattan (formerly known as the JCC of the Upper West Side) and the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York. The cost, including JCC charter bus transportation from the Upper West Side of NYC, is $30 ($25 AC/MOMC/JCC members). Reservations for those requiring JCC charter bus transportation are made by calling 212/580-0099 and signing up with the following event code: UTIMP/JA2ao. Bus space is limited.  The cost is $10 ($5 AC/MOMC/JCC members) for those meeting us at the parking area near Jones Point (a few miles south of Bear Mountain Inn). Four "fab" Sundays with a live band (except April 7), a basic lesson, fun, food, wine and dance entertainment. No partner or experience necessary. Free lesson at 7:00pm. Reba will get you moving with clear instruction that makes dancing easy and fun. Then start up the band and we'll party the night away to some of NY's finest swing, salsa and tango orchestras. At 9:00pm enjoy a demo featuring the finest of NY's pro dance talent. Come dance, enjoy the show, have a glass of wine at our Refreshment Bar, and meet old and new friends.
