As many of you know, our swing dance on January 23 coincided with a
heavy snowstorm and many people who had wanted to come were not able to
get to Ansche Chesed. So due to popular demand we are scheduling an
extra dance this season, and we promise no snow this time;

FREE: Live Shakespeare in Central Park (Outdoors) - Saturday, June 4 at 7:00pm. See As You Like It; Live Shakespeare in Central Park presented for free in a unique setting. “The great appeal of these productions is that they are adapted to work with the park's natural terrain-the audience follows the performance from place to place, as the plot unfolds from scene to scene. The separation between the performance and the audience is then blurred, as our spectators experience the play as if it were happening at this very instant and all around them”. No tickets or reservations are necessary. The performance starts promptly at 7:00pm at West 103rd Street and Central Park West. Ansche Chesed will meet promptly at 6:45pm at the entrance to Central Park on Central Park West at West 103rd Street. Click here to see where we are meeting. For more information check out New York Classical Theatre’s website at http://www.newyorkclassical.org/. This activity is a “show & go” in that there will be no reservations taken. Heavy downpour cancels but a light drizzle may not (this play takes place outdoors!).
Hiking - Sunday, June 5 - Storm King Mountain & Storm King Art Center - See beautiful views of the Hudson River and then tour Storm King Art Center nearby. The hike will be 4 miles long (3-4 hours) and is a moderate hike with some hills and a small amount of rock scrambling. The trip to Storm King Art Center (admission fee: $10 payable on location) will depend on the interest of those on the trip as well as transportation practicalities (i.e. if only one person who comes on the hike wants to go and they do not have a car then we won't go). Bring hiking boots, lunch, water, daypack, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, money, etc. Co-sponsored with the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York. Cost for the hike is $10 ($5 AC/Mosaic members). Limited to 30 people. Telephone reservations required by 6:00pm Monday, May 30. Contact Michael (212/678-7881 before 9:00pm) to reserve. Rain cancels. Auto Racing - Monday, July 4 (Independence Day) - At Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut. You've seen the New York Philharmonic in Central Park, now try this - a very different kind of "music". (Hmmm! This is different! What is this activity doing here? I'm glad you asked.) I could classify this as an easy hike as you can (and as I did) walk miles on grassy hillsides around this meandering racetrack to glimpse the action which you can easily get fairly close (and safely) to at this track. Please read my long description of this outing by clicking here. Get to spend Independence Day in an "all-American" setting. Contact Michael (212/678-7881 before 9:00pm) for more information.
