FREE: Live Shakespeare in Central Park (Outdoors) - Saturday, May 30 at 7:00pm. See King Lear; Live Shakespeare in Central Park presented for free in a unique setting. “The great appeal of these productions is that they are adapted to work with the park's natural terrain-the audience follows the performance from place to place, as the plot unfolds from scene to scene. The separation between the performance and the audience is then blurred, as our spectators experience the play as if it were happening at this very instant and all around them”. No tickets or reservations are necessary. The performance starts promptly at 7:00pm at West 103rd Street and Central Park West. We will meet promptly at 6:45pm at the entrance to Central Park on Central Park West at West 103rd Street. Click here to see where we are meeting. For more information check out New York Classical Theatre’s website at http://www.newyorkclassical.org/. This activity is a “show & go” in that there will be no reservations taken. Oneg in the Sukkah - Friday, October 9 (Erev-Shemini Atzeret) in the Ansche Chesed Sukkah. We'll meet at about 8:30pm in the Ansche Chesed sukkah for some schmoozing and noshing under the stars (the oneg ends at 10:45pm). The details are simple; No reservations are needed or will be taken, just show up (and please bring a friend!). If it rains then the event will take place indoors. Here is what you can do in "preparation" for this event; Invite a friend and (as the noshing is potluck) a box of cookies or other snack or a something non-alcoholic to drink to share with others. Please do remember that it must be kosher (and either dairy or pareve). Suggestions include a box of cookies, some seedless grapes, seltzer, a package of pre-washed baby carrots, something with chocolate etc etc. Bringing your favorite (Shabbat friendly) board game may also be a nice idea. As all good things like this end eventually, the oneg will end at 10:45pm and everyone must be out of the building by 11:00pm. For more information contact Michael (212/678-7881 before 9:00pm).
For those interested: There will be a coordinated kosher pareve/dairy potluck dinner in the sukkah prior to the oneg. If you are interested in participating in the dinner then please contact Michael (212/678-7881 before 9:00pm) before 6:00pm on Wednesday, October 7. There will be no "walk-ins" allowed at the dinner.
