Ansche Chesed List Server

I wish I had known,...

Ansche Chesed is a large community and it’s not always possible to disseminate information in a timely way. For example, news related to a death, funeral & shiva arrangements or to a birth (and brit milah) needs to be communicated rapidly. It is beyond Ansche Chesed’s resources to phone every member with this and other timely information.

It would be nice if we could quickly, easily and cheaply let the entire congregation know of important news in our community. A list server can help get the message out in time for people to act on it.

The wonders of modern technology have enabled us to start a free service for members of Ansche Chesed which can address this problem. The solution entails use of a "List Server". A List Server is an electronic mail service where an email message sent to the service is then automatically redistributed to all subscribers to the service.

Each minyan operates its own list server for local news and announcements. Please see each minyan's web pages for subscription information. Everyone subscribed to a minyan list also receives postings from the synagogue's officers and its professional staff (via the automatically forwarding of messages posted to the NYCAC-NEWS list server described below).

Our synagogue-wide list server is called "NYCAC-NEWS". This will allow the Ansche Chesed office to email important and timely news to the congregation. To subscribe to this service send email to listserv@uscj.org. In the body of the message put the line "SUBSCRIBE NYCAC-NEWS". Do not put anything else anywhere in the body of the message. You will get an email confirmation of your subscription.

The NYCAC-NEWS list server is currently set up so that only the office or the officers of Ansche Chesed can "post" messages to it. This will help insure that only important and timely messages are distributed. Furthermore, it has been set up so that no subscriber can learn who else has subscribed to the list.
