Coordinators: Ellen Resnick

Kiddush is an important part of our Shabbat experience, providing an opportunity for people to connect and weave a stronger, more meaningful web of community.  As the minyan grows, making those connections is more of a challenge, just as feeding all these people becomes a larger responsibility.

Will we ever get hard copy of the calendar?
Yes.  Hard copy eventually finds its way into a minyan mailing.  If you haven't been able to download the e-mail and want to know your date, just ask.

What do I do if I want to celebrate a simcha?
       1.  If you want to bring something extra or special to add to the normal kiddush, just call the coordinator for that week to let them know.
       2.  If you have an event that calls for taking over the whole kiddush that day, let the rotation coordinators know, and we'll reschedule the assignments for that week.  No one ever complains about having their date postponed.

Do we need to let the coordinators know if we've arranged a switch?

Yes, definitely contact the coordinators for that week.   The rotation coordinators don't need to be involved unless its a switch of coordinators for a specific week.

By the way, how are the weekly coordinators assigned?
We try and make it random, and we don't look to see who has been assigned coordination from year to year.  If you feel like you're being picked on, let us know.

If we are not going to be at shul that week, can we drop off our contribution?

This has been done in emergencies, but it's generally not a good idea and the practice should not be abused.  Others are stuck with more set up/clean up, and it's contrary to the whole spirit of the thing.

Am I responsible for Kiddush if I pay my membership dues, but attend services elsewhere?

Since MaÕat does not have different categories of members (e.g. active, associate, etc.) kiddish rotation assignments are given to every member listed with a New York address.  Think of it as an opportunity to connect with a community you have chosen to remain a part of in some fashion.
