Firebird/Jar-Ptitsa Presents:

Havdallah Pajama Party

Saturday, November 22 at 5pm

Relax and Revive - in Russian!

Catch up with old friends and make new ones as we say good-bye to Shabbat and welcome a new week.

Join JAR-Ptitsa for a family dinner, followed by a cozy, Russian story-time (PJs encouraged but not required) and a short, magical, musical Havdalah service (dipping that braided candle into wine is guaranteed to make any kid ooh and ahh).

Then, while the children play in our fully equipped gym with Discovery coach Robert Rivera, the adults can brace themselves for the coming work week with a little more wine, some cheese, and a bit of grown up conversation.

With Cantor Natasha Hirschhorn.

Cost: $10 per person, or $30 for family of three or more.  Please register at

Shaaray Tefila, 250 E 79th St, New York, NY 10075

To celebrate the launch of their COJECO BluePrint Fellowship Alumni project, alumni Zisl Slepovitch, Inna Barmash and Irina Sheynfeld are partnering with the Firebird/JAR-Ptitsa project to bring Russian-Jewish families together for a community Havdalah, musical performance, and workshops aimed at fostering family traditions around celebrating Shabbat.  The project will consist of a website featuring musical recordings and artwork and a printable toolkit for educators and parents to be used as a starting point in building their own traditions of unplugging and reconnecting to their family and community on the day of rest.
