LEARNING LEARNING

Meaningful Jewish Learning & Living in an Open-Minded Egalitarian Community

Situated in the egalitarian, socially progressive, ritually traditional, and intellectually vigorous institution of Ansche Chesed, the Ansche Chesed Hebrew School provides opportunities for students and their families to become comfortable and connected with our community and tradition.

Our Vision:

Ansche Chesed Hebrew School students:

  • Engage Judaism with curiosity, passion, and reflection;
  • Value Torah and its lessons;
  • Experience and practice Tikkun Olam (healing the world through social action) and middot (Jewish values and virtues);
  • Acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in Jewish life, including the fundamentals of prayerbook Hebrew.

Our classes begin in preschool and continue through the teen years. We also offer a class for children with special learning needs. Our small class sizes allow students to make close friendships as well as develop personal relationships with our dynamic and experienced teachers.

Our curriculum exposes students to the rhythm and stories of the Bible; the cycle of the Jewish year; the land of Israel; classic rabbinic texts; and middot, Jewish values. In addition, our focus on Hebrew through prayer offers students lifelong connection with Jewish communities across time and place.

We have an active parent body community and parent board. Hebrew School families are encouraged to attend Shabbat and holiday services and take part in communal activities. We also offer classes and support for parents who seek to explore their own religious identities as individuals and as parents.

All children are welcome, regardless of background.  We offer extra support for students who need it as well as enrichment for advanced students.
