DESCRIPTION:שִירוּ לַיהוָה\, שִיר חָדָשׁ; שִירוּ לַיהוָה\, כָל-הָאָרֶץ\nSing to God a new song\, sing to God\, all the earth! – Psalm 96 \nDon’t play what’s there\, play what’s not there. – Miles Davis \nThis will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely\, more beautifully\, more devotedly than ever before. – Leonard Bernstein \nOn the last Friday of June\, we will welcome Shabbat with the help of Mike Cohen Jazz Trio – Mike Cohen\, woodwinds\, Brian Gelfand\, keyboard\, and Ronen Itzik\, percussion. \nAs we watch the sun set over the city roofs (weather permitting)\, we’ll enjoy a special night of musical adventures\, fun\, and friendship with beautiful music\, wine\, and great food! \n6pm: The band will start playing\, with wine and hors d’oeuvres at hand\n6:30pm: Kabbalat Shabbat with Hazzan Hirschhorn and the band\, followed by traditional Maariv service\n7:45pm: Dinner for pre-registered guests \nAfter the dinner\, will have an opportunity to learn about connections between Jazz and Jewish music with AC member Sid Gribetz\, who has been a mainstay of New York’s jazz radio scene for over 30 years. With a musical expertise that ranges in a broad spectrum from swing to modern jazz\, he can be heard as a host of WKCR’s popular Sunday afternoon Jazz Profiles program\, as well as other special broadcasts. \n\n$40/person.\n\nPlease consider an additional $18 contribution to the Music Fund to help support programming like this.
