SUMMARY:Social Action Town Hall Meeting: Supporting Refugees and Reopening the AC Shelter
DESCRIPTION:Ansche Chesed\, our “Community of Kindness\,” has a strong track record of turning our religious commitments into action\, to help neighbors near and far. For more than 30 years we have hosted and staffed a homeless shelter. And in the last two years\, we have sponsored three refugee families from Afghanistan and Myanmar\, helping them resettle in New York \nNow it is time to carry those commitments forward. \nAfter nearly three years of Covid-based disruption\, we need to re-open the shelter. To do this we need volunteer leadership to reaffirm our goals\, to overcome logistical obstacles\, and to rebuild our infrastructure. \nNow is also the time to welcome and support our next refugee family. \nAre you ready to lead\, assist\, and contribute? \nIf you would like to join this work\, please come to this organizing meeting. Together we will learn how much good our community is capable of. \nIf you cannot make the meeting but want to be involved\, please write Rabbi Jeremy Kalmanofsky at rjk@anschechesed.org and we’ll keep you in the loop.
