SUMMARY:Tales of Teshuva
DESCRIPTION:The Chassidic tradition made story-telling a central religious expression with unprecedented intensity and depth. To begin the season of repentance\, Joshua Halberstam will share with us tales of self-scrutiny and return. \nJoshua  is a long-time member of our community. He teaches philosophy and communications at Bronx Community College/CUNY\, and Jewish Philosophy at City College/CUNY.  Halberstam’s most recent book\, The Blind Angel: New Old Chassidic Tales draws on his intimate familiarity with the Chassidic world in which he grew up. The book is a translation and retelling of the tales his father told on Yiddish radio from the  late 1940s to early 1960s.
