Bar Mitzvah of Micah Emens-Asher
| Micah Emens-Asher loves piano, tacos, soccer, comedy, and games. During the year, he goes to school at Bank Street and, during the summer, he loves to spend a month at Camp Havaya. He has 5 siblings: 15-year-old Ari, 5-year-old Leor, 3-year-old Akiva, 3-year-old Ronnie, and 1-month-old Eliana. For Micah’s act of tzedakah, he has chosen to donate to an organization called Broadway Community, which has an overnight shelter and a soup kitchen, is “dedicated to serving New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty.” Micah feels connected to Broadway Community because he has played piano there during mealtime to contribute to the atmosphere, as part of his chesed (kindness) project. It is important to Micah that he can help make people happy in a space that is helping to address the problem of hunger in the world. This organization, located at Broadway and 114th Street, is also connected to this community because Ansche Chesed is about to reopen its homeless shelter in partnership with Broadway Community. |
