Communal Sukkah Use
All are welcome to come eat in our Sukkah – no registration required! Click here for the full Sukkah Schedule.
- Meals in the Sukkah must conform to AC’s kashrut policy: Only dairy or parve foods prepared in a kosher kitchen or packaged kosher products are permitted. No meat is allowed in the sukkah.
- Both the Rooftop Sukkah and the 5th Floor Sukkah are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (between 8am to 10pm, unless otherwise noted on the schedule)
- The Sukkah is closed for cleaning between 2-3pm during Hol HaMoed
- AC provides paper goods, coffee and tea – no other beverages are provided
- Please note that even on nights where there are Minyan or other dinners, the Sukkah is still open to the public
Sukkot Programming
Sukkah Decorating Party + Chesed OpportunitySunday, October 5 from 10am – 12pm in the Rooftop Sukkah Join us on the AC roof to help decorate and beautify our Sukkah! We’ll bring art supplies and snacks, you bring the Sukkot simcha – joy! Geared at kids ages 3-10. Teens welcome to volunteer! This year, we also have the opportunity to decorate the sukkah of our neighbors at The New Jewish Home, a nursing and hospice facility on 106th between Amsterdam and Columbus. We invite older kids and teenagers to help us do this mitzvah! |
Lunch and Learn: “There’s a Midrash About That!” with Rabbi Yael HammermanThursday, October 9 at 12:30 – 1:30pm in the Rooftop Sukkah Working remotely? Retired? Stay-at-home parents? Taking a day off? Please join Rabbi Yael Hammerman for a monthly lunch-and-learn gathering where we will read midrashim from across the centuries. Midrashim help us fill in the blanks in the Torah, they add color to our black and white laws, and they help us develop our own voice and approach to Jewish text. Come – it will be fun! (No Hebrew background necessary). This session will be held with “Of A Certain Age” and lunch will be provided. |
Boker Tov Tots in the SukkahSaturday, October 11 from 10:15am – 10:50am in the Rooftop Sukkah Babies, tots, preschool kids and their families are invited to join us for breakfast in the Sukkah before the Mishpacha service on the second floor. We’ll provide the food. Kids can eat and play, and parents will have time to schmooze and get to know one another. RSVP here, walk-ins welcome! |
Intergenerational Mitzvah Knitting Group in the SukkahSunday, October 12 from 10 – 11:30am in the Rooftop Sukkah Knitters needed! Experienced and new knitters of all ages welcome: bubbies, bring your grandkids; kids – bring your parents. Stay tuned for more info about our project. |
Teen Sushi Making in the SukkahSunday, October 12 from 6 – 7:30pm in the 5th Floor Patio Sukkah Calling all teens! Come join us on Sukkot to make delicious Sushi in the Sukkah, play games and hang out with your friends. Can’t wait to see you there! (Please note, this event will take place in the sukkah on the 5th floor.) This event is free! RSVPs encouraged, walk ins welcome. |
Family Simchat Torah Dinner and CelebrationTuesday, October 14 at 6pm in Hirsch Hall Join us for a FREE light dairy dinner followed by our annual Torah Unroll, dancing and Hakafot with the rest of the AC Community. Stick around for ice cream and popsicles after the second Hakafa! No RSVP necessary, walk-ins welcome. |
