TREE OF LIFE: 270 years of Jewish Choral Music
Ninety voices bring to life the sounds of classical and contemporary Jewish Choral music in the beautiful sanctuary of Ansche Chesed. Handel, Mendelsohn, Schubert, and Lewandowski, as well as contemporary 21st Century compositions, based on Jewish texts and themes. The New Sanctuary Coalition of NYC is an interfaith network of congregations, organizations, and individuals, standing publicly in solidarity with families and communities resisting detention and deportation in order to stay together. One of its major projects is the Accompaniment Program which has provided support to hundreds, if not thousands, of immigrants facing deportation or detention. In honor of the Congregation trip to Poland, our Friday night davening and oneg will come with a Polish flavor. The Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv prayers will be led by a Warsaw born vocalist Channah Silverman, who is a Cantorial Student at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Communal Davening and Kiddush
Please join us on Shabbat of Labor Day weekend for communal davening and kiddush. All food should be dairy or pareve. If your last name begins with A-I, please bring an appetizer. If your last name begins with J-Q, please bring a salad. If your last name begins with R-Z, please bring a dessert. Those who cannot contribute food may make a donation to the kiddush fund.
